What to ask before you commit
- Where the dog sleeps and rests, and how much each day is spent one-on-one rather than in a kennel run.
- How exercise is paced at altitude, and how water, shade and cold are managed.
- Which skills the plan covers, such as heel, recall and settling, and how they are tested around distractions.
- How many dogs are in the program, and what happens if your dog becomes ill or stressed.
- What the written agreement says about price, extra days and handoff lessons.

Good questions
Before you begin.
How do I know the program fits my dog?
Describe your dog's habits honestly and ask the trainer how they would handle them. Good trainers sometimes say a stay is not the right fit.
Can I tour where my dog will stay?
Many trainers allow visits by appointment. Ask, and treat a firm refusal with no reason as a warning.
Does altitude change the plan?
It can. Ask how a trainer paces exercise and watches for fatigue, especially for dogs new to the area.
Why do prices vary?
Length of stay, individual attention, how many dogs are in the program and follow-up support all change the total.
